  • Batmobile

I got a surprise in the mail today.
The Batmobile is beautiful. The only draw back is that Robin flew the coop.
If Scalextric makes a Robin, I would buy it to complete the model.

Did not know our USA dealers got them in yet due to Scalextric USA being basically broken because of new shipping/inventory software.

Good news then, I have mine reserved.

Oh, well I will wait. Not that big of deal to bypass supporting our locals.

Thanks Harry for supporting the US dealers. We are at a real disadvantage with Europe. Used to be they released a car on the same date around the world not any more. It is a little frustrating for us here.

Waiting patiently for mine from my LHS. I have a Robin figure from the 1/32 scale model painted and ready to slide into the cockpit. I hope he fits.

Never mind all this excitement for that black car with the fancy red detailing, I'll wait for Scalextric to get some tooling inserts properly done and produce the Lincoln Futura concept car from 1955 that George Barris used as the base model for the Batmobile.

Come on people at Hornby, you know it makes sense.

Okay, here is a picture. This is the first time the case was opened.
                  Robin is AWOL.

My wife is the office manager of a body/auto service shop that deals with every day cars, but also some interesting cars and celebrity customers as well, given where they are located in a very affluent part of Maryland.

Pulled in to pick her up from work one night, and this was there. Hood was off for some engine work. Had everything, from the bat phone to the propane tank in the trunk to fire up the jet flame.

Belonged to a guy who dressed up as Batman and visited kids in hospitals. First in a black Lambo, then had this car built. Unfortunately, he was killed one night returning from a hospital visit in the batmobile.

Of course, the REAL Batman liked slot cars...

Yes the Futura was 1955 - Ghia built it, Hollywood used it, and Barris Customized it.

in 1959 it was painted red for use in the film "It Started with a Kiss":

At that time, it must have bee a sensation in Italy during filming.

Scalextric should release this one with little Glenn Ford and Debbie Reynolds figures.

Well...they just didn't put him in. No one really knows why. Mostly to save $$$ on one less figure to tool up that will never be used again.

Posted the review on 30th of May?
