  • Carrera Zackspeed Capri tires

Is it just me or are the stock tires on the Carrera Capri not very good? I have tryed up the wheels, glued the tires on ( they were spinning on the wheel) trues them, cleaned them and they still only last a few laps before being slippery. I’m running no magnet on Scalextric sport track. I’m planning on a set of PG tires hoping they improve it.
Any of you have trouble with these tires too?
I think it’s because the tread area is so thin the tires have no flex to grip the track, any thoughts?

Stock tires on that car are bad, very bad. The PG’s will be way better but need to be trued to really work well. Good luck!

“Bad, very bad” that about sums it up. I’ve used the PG firm on some other cars, I was thinking of trying the softer compound on this one.
Other than the tires I like the car, I’ve smoothed it up and quieted it down quite a bit since it came out of the box. It will be fun once it sticks in the corners better.

I use Supertires silicones exclusively. They last forever and given consistent grip (clean before each run).

I’m keeping my track rubber tire only for now anyway. I did run a car with old half worn siliconed foam tires once, I can see the attraction it stuck like glue!

Michael, If as stated, you are using rubber tires only.......I am sure you are aware that PG tires are urethane, not, rubber.

That said, rubber and urethane will play reasonably well together, much better than silicone/rubber, silicone/urethane.

PS Most Carrera tires leave a lot to be desired when running without magnets.

Chris, yes I guess I should have said Rubber and urethane only.

You could try conditioning the tires with 3in1 oil or NSR tire treatment.

To my understanding PGs are on the new Carrera Cars. Maybe true them

These do not seem like PG tires they feel like rubber. I have trued them. Just a bad compound I think.

PG tires are not installed on the new Carrera cars. They come with standard rubber only.

PG tires will improve the car a great deal. Mine hook up well. Try standard PG and not the XPG.

Thanks for the advise Harry. Just curious, why do you like the standard PG better than the softer XPG tires?

Try these for replacement if you decide to try another set.
