I switched from the 3 in 1 over to using some 0w40 Mobil one synthetic oil. I read somewhere else that it is plastic safe. On the front axles after cleaning off the 3 in 1 they spin much better with the Mobil 1. I don’t think it will ever get warm enough to get beyond its 0 rating. For my home use it seems to work nicely.

I've used nano liquid for the last 18 months, it's not actually an oil but it seems to work.

Slot Car Corner packages Superlube in needle tip applicator bottles. I recommend this one: SCC Slicker-N-Snot Racing Oil, 1 oz. (slotcarcorner.com)

Some oils work at least a little better than others. If you race your cars using a better type of oil would be more important. For a start use a brand of oil that is plastic safe, the wrong oil will attack plastic and make it brittle. If you use oil that is very thick the car will run more slowly until it warms up. I have done a little actual testing and I use Superlube, which is a plastic safe synthetic oil with micronized Teflon suspended in it.

I've never had any oil that was bad. Worst thing is the guys that slop it all over. It doesn't take much to do the job

For chassis oiling, bearings etc, is 3 in 1 oil ok or will it do bad things to the plastic ? What other oils or greases are a better option?Tags: None
