  • Scalex Daytona Prototype

The looks of these appealed to me so I had to add one to the fleet.

Unfortunately we didn't have a class to run these in but because it was quite quick and handled pretty well I was allowed to run it in our open class LMP along with Slot.it Lolas and NSR Audis and the likes. Needless to say it didn't fair too well against their Flat 6's and Boxer type motors etc. so I decided to give it a bit more grunt. I glued a SRP 20k FC-130 (S-can) into it and added NSR Ultras and glued the bushes in and added a brace between the motor and bushes and now it can hang in there with the big boys. I've also removed the magnet and added a few grams of lead each side of the motor. It now weighs in at 83gm with 46gm over the back axle. Everything other than the tyres and motor is standard even the guide although the braid has only one layer between the guide and the track. To top it off I took out top spot on the podium in one heat last night as it's just so easy to drive at the ragged edge constantly.

Much better than the “I have to run what everyone else runs” attitude.

I really like them always have, I was really surprised how well they ran out of the box.

I also have one and, like Mike says, I have been pleasantly surprised by just how nice they are. Beautiful fit and finish and with some TLC a surprisingly good runner: kudos to Scalextric. And kudos to you to run them against some stiff competition!

Thanks for your encouraging comments guys. I thought I'd add a photo of the chassis. I know it's not much to look at but I'm just so pleasantly surprised that with so little work and investment it delivers such good returns.
An SRP motor here in NZ is $12nz and NSR tyres about $15 per pack of 4. My favourite LMP car is a SCX pro Audi (SCX PRO Audi - Home Racing World) with a Scaleauto 20k FK-130 in the Ninco pod, which always gets a podium finish and often the top step, and this inexpensive DP car runs very close behind. Too much fun and lights too!

I like mine. I just wish they would make the Daytona prototype Corvette to run with it.

I’ve got 2 of them. Great performers. They actually are faster than my Sideways DP.
