  • Carrera 132 digital transformer?

I just bought and received in the mail today the Digital 132 scale GT Face Off set.

apparently this shipped directly from Europe because the transformer/power supply has an EU plug.

it is EU DC 14.8V 3.5A

Can I buy an EU to USA adapter and will it work?

    thanks for any help/advise.

yes just get an adapter that plugs on the front it's fine to use here. I used a euro transformer for years as the power supply while I worked for Carrera for my demo track. I used it because we got a shipment of them to the US warehouse for Carrera of America and we weren't able to sell them (of course) and they were all thrown out, except the few that I grabbed to use for my track.

SlotCat, in reference to your comment, many modern compact switch mode type power supplies are designed to take an input from 100V to 240V. My Australian market delivered Carrera D132 switch mode power supply is marked as 100V to 240V, my guess would be that they are all the same but fitted with different plugs by the factory depending on which market they are to be delivered to.

SlotCat, so my experience is only just based on me using all the power supplies available. I saw exactly zero difference between and adapted US power supply and a Euro power supply.. .none.

Interesting, iirc didn't used to be this way, but if the manufacturers built it for an input voltage range it should work.

Slotspeed and Dave, thanks for your real life experience and input!

It depends what the Input stage is... if it says 220/230V then it won't work (nearly as well) when you plug it into a 110V outlet with an adapter.

      This is what I bought:

      https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-LENCE.../dp/B0888K9VFJ

      Description states:
”If your devices can accept 100-240V voltage, then there's no problem. If your devices ONLY accept 220V-240V voltage, then you'll need to find a voltage converter.”
      • Europe to US Plug Adapter - Rated power 16A, 1650W at 110V. Aiming to connect Type C/E/F plugs from Europe (such as Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and so on) with American Wall Outlet.

Can you post a picture of the power supply where it shows the Input and Output voltages.

Out of curiosity couldn't you just cut it off and put on a standard plug?

OK - it's 100-240V so it will work if you just cut the EU plug off and put on a USA one. No adapter needed. Get one of these at your local Home Depot or Ace Hardware or other...
