It appears that the axle gear on one of my Legends cars has wore down to the point of not working any more, is this from too much play in the axle?

That would be called the spur gear. If I recall correctly the axle is splined where the spur gear is located. If the rear axle assembly has a lot of side play the spur gear could get pushed over and no longer be on the splined part of the axle causing it to slip. There should be some spacers installed with the rear axle assembly to limit the side play. If the spur gear has moved off of the splines you could just push it back, but I would put a small amount of Superglue on the splines first. Be sure to keep the Superglue out of the bearing!👍 1Comment

I'm not explaining myself very well, too much play in the gears due to spur gear wore down, not meshing any more, spur gear is visibly word down, no slippage any wear.Comment

Is this happening on an RTR Legend, or a paint it yourself kit car you assembled?
Also, Pioneer sells a spare parts Legends gear pack for about $4. I didn't see a full replacement rear axle on INASLOT's website, but you could contact them or PM Jules..
