  • Slot Cars I'd Like To See - IMSA GTO/GTU

One series of slot cars that is woefully under represented in our hobby is IMSA GTO. There were so many different GTO cars in an almost limitless variety of liveries that it seems to me this would be a gold mine of opportunity for any interested manufacturer. Many of the cars were American muscle, but there were several Japanese cars and Porsche and Audi also made a good showing. Would any European-based slot manufacturer risk producing these beauties? Slot. It, Maybe? πŸ˜‰

Here are some pics of a random few... and these are just a small crop from the 1986-1989 seasons.

I saw the F40 at the Topeka IMSA race. Immediately bought the Fly model when it came out.

I designed one a couple of weeks ago for a slotit sidewinder pod, printed one in nylon and one in Cf-Petg. It's not finalised yet and will probably be printed in PETG.

Amato did a repaint that makes the car look much better.

Yes. That's the car that ran at Laguna Seca in 1989.

No love for Oldsmobile? I'd like a Cutlass and Aurora along with a few of the others above.

Milan Tomasek at MTR32 has some of the IMSA entries shown above on his IMSA gallery page found here: https://mtr32.com/?view=gallery
I have a couple of his cars and they are very nice but are priced at custom limited production pricing as they should be for his effort.

***Looks like the "IMSA" selection didn't hold in the above link, click on "all races" after opening the above link and then you can chose IMSA or another race series.

I did get to see the Audi 90 Quattro race live in the Trans Am series at Detroit in the late 80's, it was awesome and the sound unforgettable!

Audi raced a copy of the GTO in the South African modified saloons as a Audi S4...it did good!

Wouldn’t the new Scalextric IROC Z-28 make a credible IMSA GTO car?
