Hello John, Good job .............on your next build(s), rather than measuring/aligning with your "square", you may want to use your ceramic jig to align/hold/solder your bits and pieces. This will eliminate any potential errors with the "by eye" method.
You can use the jig (with some pins) to set the wheelbase, align the axles, and square the pans etc. (a square/flat chassis does work better ) . Equally beneficial, the jig and pins will also hold the bits accurately while soldering (save a few blistered fingers !!)

If the holes on your jig do not provide the accurate measurements you need, (eg. the wheelbase needs to be snick longer/shorter etc. ) some small lengths of brass/aluminum tubing placed over the pins, will allow some "micro" adjustments.

    Keep building !!

    Cheers
    Chris Walker

The following are not the best pics., and, they are both inline chassis, but the process is the same regardless of the motor configuration. With the numerous holes on you jig, you can easily set the width, align and hold you side pans while soldering.

Do you have the original box art and would you show that? I have a lindberg cobra kit and the art work for the box is great.

Chris, thank you so much for your wonderful words of encouragement!

Your work is certainly the high water mark by which we all try to measure up to!

Your photos are great and illustrate the points you made very well!

I'm certainly very keen to try the next chassis!

Lance, here is the original box from the Palmer kit:

Certainly a 'stylized' rendition of the car!

        Thanks

"stylized" is a good description. Just like this box art, my box art for the cobra looks really cool, but the car not as much. lance
