  • It's not all about the pod.

Not everyone always likes the latest and greatest, some people like what they are comfortable with. We have an F1 class that we run, it started out as 50s cars by Cartrix and Scalextric mostly, then it slowly crept into the 60s, 70s, and so on as guys kept trying to go faster' I struggled with these newer cars as I found them over motored and twitchy to drive. When NSR got into the fray I ordered one as I usually like there product. It came and truly is a wonderful car, fast smooth, quiet, and easy to drive fast.
Now with the boredom brought on by this lockdown business I dug out some old friends and started tinkering with different motors, tires, weight placement just for something to do. Do you think over time the desire for more speed will pull the guys you race with towards the NSR F1 cars? If even the small difference of 1/10th of a second per lap is consistent it will add up and the NSR cars will tend to have better finishes making those chasing wins want them. Seems to me what you have is 2 different classes of F1 cars based on era. That doesn't mean they can't be raced together if needed, like the O2 (large displacement) and U2 (smaller displacement) cars in classic Trans Am. Mustangs, Camaros, Javelins, etc. competed for their own points championship while the U2 cars did the same.

I'm all for more chances for different drivers and cars to be successful. The more people who go home after a race meeting feeling like a winner the more will keep coming back.

After the first Policar came out almost everybody dropped the Scalextric cars and started running Policars. I never cared for mine, but this is fantastic. We haven't had these at the track yet due to the virus, But after the first race we will probably see several. It's not that the NSR is faster, It's probably not, but it is much easier to drive fast.
