  • George Tuner builds

I love George Tuner models and I'm amazed how few in the slot car world are aware of him or even choose to build slot cars from kits. Even less from scratch. I do both but when I find a great hand craftsman such as George it's a model I place a higher value on than a 3D printed model. George isn't the only one out there doing this. But he's certainly one of the best I have ever seen. For me, 3D printed models lack the soul of the cars that in their era were built all by hand.

I have had a long career in modeling and making in general. I'm a maker and I've made things like Mr. Spock's ears for Star Trek and creatures for Ghost Busters. But I've also built models professionally for years. For films, clients, and collectors. I've made props, masks and more. Everything from model rockets to radio controlled submarines and much of it from scratch with my hands and tools. I know good work when I see it and George is the king IMHO.

I recently built his BRM T25. I have been waiting over a month for the correct tires, and wheels to arrive from the UK from Pendle. At no fault to Pendle but plenty to our US postal system. But I digress. Finally as of tracking today I'll be able to finish it.

Also lost for over a month were the next two kits I bought from George also held by customs. A Bentley and one of my favorites, a Lotus 40. The universe knows how I love the Lotus. Any Lotus. Had one once and it was always broken but I loved it just the same.

So soon here I will be building these cars once my large order of parts arrive today. I'm salivating already. You can find George and his work here: http://www.georgeturnermodels.com/

Believe it's worth the wait to get one of his kits.

Yeah, the cars he does just aren't done by anyone else with anything like his quality. That Bentley is gorgeous. You do pay a lot for his quality, though. I'd buy a half dozen more from him every year if his prices weren't so high.

David (long time HRW member) had a great resin business, and his technique was just a good as GT, but he developed a bad reaction to the resin after doing it for so long and had to give it up. I understand Munter is doing his models now, down under.

    George Turner, by the way.

Agree with all said. George Turner castings are the best out there. Pricey but worth it. We all miss RMS resins.

The world knows George Turner produces the nicest, most detailed, cleanest cast resins around. He is my inspiration to do better with what I produce. I did repop the RMS Datsun 510 with Davids blessing. The mould is nearly cooked after about 30 pulls.

Total agreement on GT models. I prefer his UK and continental European models but couldn't resist this 50 Chevy pick up.

Pleasantly surprised that he did this.

      Love it Dan! Great build.

After a very long wait I received on Friday my package from Pendle and now the BRM T25 has the correct tires and wheels. The wheel inserts are from George Turner and they are of course excellent. Love this car!

Next week I start his Bentley and Lotus 40 since all the parts necessary to build both are in that wonderful package I got Friday.

Beautiful projects. Four months is a long time to wait for something. I waited 5 months for a package to come from China as it was held up in customs.
        Keep the updates coming.
