I love George Tuner models and I'm amazed how few in the slot car world are aware of him or even choose to build slot cars from kits. Even less from scratch. I do both but when I find a great hand craftsman such as George it's a model I place a higher value on than a 3D printed model. George isn't the only one out there doing this. But he's certainly one of the best I have ever seen. For me, 3D printed models lack the soul of the cars that in their era were built all by hand.
I have had a long career in modeling and making in general. I'm a maker and I've made things like Mr. Spock's ears for Star Trek and creatures for Ghost Busters. But I've also built models professionally for years. For films, clients, and collectors. I've made props, masks and more. Everything from model rockets to radio controlled submarines and much of it from scratch with my hands and tools. I know good work when I see it and George is the king IMHO.
I recently built his BRM T25. I have been waiting over a month for the correct tires, and wheels to arrive from the UK from Pendle. At no fault to Pendle but plenty to our US postal system. But I digress. Finally as of tracking today I'll be able to finish it.

Also lost for over a month were the next two kits I bought from George also held by customs. A Bentley and one of my favorites, a Lotus 40. The universe knows how I love the Lotus. Any Lotus. Had one once and it was always broken but I loved it just the same.

So soon here I will be building these cars once my large order of parts arrive today. I'm salivating already. You can find George and his work here: http://www.georgeturnermodels.com/
Believe it's worth the wait to get one of his kits.
