is there a secret to using hot glue? I always get long strands of the glue after im done. is there a certain type of glue stick that doesnt do that?im using a gorilla brand gun with a hi/lo setting and the gorilla glue sticks.

Not that I know of but what I do is pull the gun away and leave the strings to dry. This makes them easy to nip off but still sometimes an aggravating PITA

There are low and high melting versions of hot glue, one or the other may be less messy to use, probably the high melting type.. I have not found that the strands are much of a problem. If you are gluing a motor in place and your motors tend to run hot you would want to choose the high melting hot glue.

To make it less messy, I mush the tip onto the object I'm gluing and pull away quick. The strand is much smaller, cools faster, and is easier to get completely removed. I also keep a rolled up piece of paper towel handy to catch the strand and pull away so it lands where I want it to.
