  • Bales

Gentlemen this week I made 120 bales, actually I need to make another 80 I figure.

White glue is brushed onto the wood blocks with fine sawdust sprinkled on top
An alcohol / water wash was then misted onto the blocks followed with a water / white glue sprayed onto the blocks so that when dry the sawdust is firmly glued onto the blocks
Here’s a few pictures of the outcome. Thanks to my Nitro Pass Railroad friend for the reminders of the ratios.

The track and bales look fantastic, and very period correct, especially with those cars on the track.

You might want to put a “not edible” note on those bales, they could be mistaken for marshmallow squares with roasted coconut!

They look great. What are the measurements?

The wood blocks measure 17mm width x 13mm height x 30mm length with most of the edges filed 45 degrees.

The bales look great and go very well with your track. Your method is vastly easier then what I was trying to do.

Haha very funny Ken. No Bale Twine.....that would be above and beyond! I’ll give you my thinnest microfibre fishing line and let you wrap the bales. I’ll leave you the straw bales as they are itchier than alfalfa bales. Lol!

Should have known that opening my mouth would result in a project entailing work!!!

Those look very nice and, as has been mentioned, very well proportioned for the track and cars.
