  • IHSR Season 2022-2023 Racing Season Opener Scheduled for September 3rd

Well here we are -- a little more than two weeks away from the first race of the IHSR (Interstate Home Slot Racers) 2022-2023 season!

Glen will host the event, September 3rd, on his recently completed home track, the 'Zen Raceway' in Severna Park Maryland.

The photos below were taken at the previous race on June 25th. The newest version of the Zen Raceway replaces Glen's earlier plastic raceway. With the elevation changes and a tricky changing-radius underpass it has a number of challenging aspects.

The IHSR racing classes require authetic-looking reproductions of prototypical racing cars. The field of the 1963-1974 "Classic" cars at Glen's earlier event, below, show off some nicely turned-out models.

If you'd like to attend Glen's race, as a competitor or just as a spectator, send me an email as '[email protected]'. I'll fill you in on the details.

I am attaching the official IHSR classes and rules for the new season. But if you want to come see what we are about you don't need to have a set of cars all prepped and ready. The club has a tradition of supplying loaner cars for new folks who want to compete. And those loaner cars have been prepared by some of our most talented racers. It isn't unheard of for a first-timer driving a loaner car to score a podium finish!

    Wow! that track looks nice!
The more I look around the more I'm seeing the 3 lane setup, looks like they are popular for a home track.
The series sound like a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing.

Three lane is a good compromise with home tracks. I’ll be hosting an IHSR event on three lane Scalextric 1/24 scale plastic track in early 2023

Countdown begins! One week now to the opening race of the 2022-2023 IHSR season!

This year we are retiring the Slot.It Modern LeMans class in favor of the new Slot.It Group 'C' class. The new chassis will be inline rather than the previous anglewinder drives. Stock motors and gearing, but foam tires. Deep guides are allowed but otherwise the cars will be stock. Should make for very close racing.

Aside from the four regular classes -- Vintage, Carrera, Classic Sportscar and Group 'C' -- there is likely to be a Revoslot race, and maybe an additional race sponsored by the host. TBD.

We're expecting a new club member to join us. Rob has been an avid 1/24th scale racer and is bringing skills from that world into 1/32nd. He will be welcomed, feted, offered loaner cars to drive, and he may even impress us!

Thanks Robert, yes, it is a fast track. Depending on class of course, anywhere from 4.5s (Modern LeMans with Foam tires) to 5.5s (stock Carrera).
