What do you guys think of stock Sideways tires on a wood track? As good as NSR SuperGrips?

Dale, the only car I have EVOs on is my NSR F1. I have to agree with you that those tires degrade badly in short order. However, I just put a pair of 10 mm wide EVOs on a friend's Mosler this afternoon and I have to say that I like 'em. They were hooking up nicely without the degradation of the ones on my F1. Not sure if the tires on the F1 car are Super Grips or Ultra Grips. They are what came stock on the car.

The Sideways tires seem to be inconsistent from car to car. The ones that came stock on my Gr 5 Nissan seemed like good tires but they didn't grip quite as well as Super Grips. The ones on my Ford GTE were quite gummy and got even gummier as I trued them. I never did get them completely true for fear of turning them to jelly. But they are grippy - that is until they pick up every bit of dust on the track and start to booger up. Might be ok for local 3 minute heat races, but not what I want on a proxy car that will be away from home for 10 races.
I was asking because, as we all know, the original Super Grips are getting as scarce as hen's teeth and there seems to be a consensus that the newer EVO tires aren't as good. That said, I put a pair of EVO tires on a friend's NSR Mosler this afternoon and took it for a spin on my home track and I have to say I like 'em.Team SCANC

I found the same issue with the sideways tires. Been hit and miss with the Evo tires one set package true up nicely and work great. And the very next is crap. Can true with out them going to goo and I'm running st 2volts and taking very little off at each pass. So I'm not sure what's going on with them. Rather gun shy buying them any more. Anybody else have the same issue????THE other Vancouver aka Vancouver Washington across the river from keep Portland weird....

I have found the stock sideways tires work nicely on the GT cars ( 20 x 11) with a light truing and oil, they seem to get better the more you run them and work on Carrera and wood.
Don't know if they would be proxy worthy, still think the NSR SG have the edge, even the EVO's ( if you get a good pair as it's a bit of a lottery). Thunderslots work very well too but again probably not quite as good as NSRSG
seeing as I am usually at the bottom of proxies I am tempted to try the Sideways tires on my next GT3 entry( Lambo or 720S) testing in progressComment
