  • Track timing

Looking for a really simple and inexpensive track timer.....like the ninco bridge or the carrera bridge or something similar. Or if there's and app that uses the camera to track times as well? Again really simple, not looking to build a trackmate or anything like that, that needs to be hooked up to a computer.

If anyone has any input it would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you

If all you want to do is time one car, and you have an iPhone, you can buy an app called "LapTracker" that uses the phone's camera to record your lap times, and even announce the elapsed time for each lap. I have used it and it works, eh, pretty good. I just looked it up now in the App Store, and as best I can tell it is freeware.

You do need to rig up a way to support your iPhone above the track. Creativity required here.

In theory you can use LapTracker to scan multiple lanes simultaneously. I've tried that, but I'm not sure it works well for more than two lanes.

It only records to a hundredth of a second. Most race managers/lap timers measure to a thousandth. But for most tuning purposes a hundredth's good enough.

Are there similar apps for Android? I wouldn't know, but I'd be surprised if there aren't.
