Scalextric motor

I saw recently that Scalextric is offering up a performance motor. Looks like a standard Mabuchi replacement. It is an orange can, black endbell, rated at 25k rpm. Any body used one of these,or know anything about it ?

In my experience they just make the cars harder to drive.
If you have a fast flowing track they may be of some use.
Or if ,dare I say, you run a lot of magnet.

And SSD digital chips don't like them either.

I run this motor in a Scaley mustang at up to 15V on sport track with a stock mag.

Some mentioned low torque and weak braking. Do you have any issues with this ?

Fairly sure it is actually an old offering; code C8422 - no longer sold by Hornby, so you are probably seeing old stock somewhere.
I THINK - but could be wrong, they had quite low torque like the standard "18k" motor (which is 22 - 23k anyway) so you would need to gear it quite low if you race without traction magnets, so that you can slow the car for corners !!

Unless it is cheap, you are probably better off getting a Slot.it MX16 (what was the V12/3 orange bell), or a Shark 25k, both of which have much more torque, and thus more real "horsepower" (watts)

Nikolai I’ve had this car setup this way for quite some time now. It is a blast to drive with no brake issues. Just a motor swap and urethane tires she’s been flying ever since with at least 1000 laps easily on it. You won’t be disappointed with this motor. There are also the 20000 rpm ( yellow) and 30000 rpm ( blue ) don’t bother with the blue it has no brakes but the yellow is a good choice too

Scaley offered faster motors in their performance white kits that came with three motors a yellow can, an orange can and a blue can. Blue being fastest and yellow being the slowest Amazon carries them. Just the motors

You might consider a Piranha motor from Slot Car Corner, those have more power than a standard Scalextric FC-130, but they should not overpower a car if you are running without traction magnets. I am not certain if a digital chip can take the extra power. If you run without traction magnets you may be OK, otherwise you probably would have to use a Slot.it chip.
