  • Artin chassis knock offs?

I picked up 3 of these chassis on ebay. They look so much like Artin, and are identical in size. But these have a front motor location plus the usual mid mount. Plus it looks like a possible sidewinder mount too. They are marked "2 scale" on the bottom. Also there are 4 different front axle locations. I never saw these before. Great for scratch building anyway.

The bracket designed to support the rear motor bushing in an inline drive looks to be a snap-in component, which would not be used in a sidewinder setup. There seem to be several other locations where optional components could snap-in the chassis -- obvious in the underside shot, not obvious in the topside shot.

I see at least one feature that suggests a sidewinder drive could be installed, but others that appear inconsistent with a sidewinder setup. More snap-in/snap-out options? Possible, I guess, but I can't say for sure.

Lots of intriguing design features. I'd love a closer look.

I bought the 3 as a lot, and the seller dose not seem to have any others listed. But she dose have a lot of Artin for sale. Maybe it is their newer version of the old chassis?

The original design of this was done by Frank (Slot Car World) and myself. There were several prototypes made at the time for testing. Sadly, Frank passed away shortly after we got them and nothing went further. It's possible they were sold to others to have them made. Interesting.

That’s an interesting twist to this mystery chassis. Neat idea Harry.
