Scale Car Garage - A Chat With Steve Neill

Good show - nice to look inside other shops and work spaces and see other peopleโs projects and sometimes even take a peak into the mind of the makers themselves.
I think Neil is right about the 1980s 300ZX. John mentioned the 300ZX 1/32 monogram static kit, but that was the 90s body shell. Neil described the 80s car as a โZ31โ, so in Datsun/Nissan speak that would make the 1/32 model kit a โZ32โ.
Tamiya did a 1/24 โZ31โ which of course is a terrific and wonderful scale.
But these ZX cars were popular, especially in the Japanese market, so I would keep an eye out for another kind of toy of that subject in 1/32 - maybe RC, maybe a push toy, or a die cast?
All that to say Neil may not have to reinvent the wheel if it is already out there - even as a head start for pulling a mold and then using that as a basis to model and refine the body.
Again great fun to see makers and the attention to slot cars and scratch building. I like the small-run high-quality โboutiqueโ slot cars, it adds a lot to the hobby.
