  • Cartrix Lotus 16 Rebuild

I built this a few years ago for our local area club's 60's F1 class. It started as a Cartrix Lotus 16,...it was stripped, repainted, with a few detail bits made/added (mirrors, driver, intake trumpets, springs/shocks etc.

The chassis is a basic "flexi-board" design, with BWA/DART/RSslotracing wheels, and is powered by a 14/15K FC-130, as per club rules.

    Cheers
    Chris Walker

PS It has done very well in our local club events, and did win the VRAA proxy a few years back.

Very nice. I spent more time looking at the chassis. So clean and simple, but not really.

That would proudly belong in any racers garage.
I have one of these bodyshells with a broken guide mount awaiting it's turn for bench modding...or more likely a 3D chassis with pod.

Too good; inside and out; the mind boggles.

Incredible. The body work is simply top notch, and that chassis: Wow. Some of the most exquisite chassis work I've seen.

A flexi-board chassis design does look very simplistic, particularly when configured for a skinny F1 car, yet they do work extremely well, and the principle (central pivoting spine) is used in virtually all high end chassis.

Another couple of examples of F1 flexi-board chassis.

Chris is that a JK F1 motor bracket on the Lotus chassis?

This is one of my brackets. but, I do use the JK and RGEO brackets often.
