  • Pioneer, oops no Aurora GTO

Since the carrera GTO is fetching ridiculous money I searched out other brands.
I lucked out on this Aurora GTO in great shape for a more scalextric price.

I put a pioneer camaro-mustang chassis from electric dreams underneath.
I stretched it aprox 1/4 inch to fit the wheel wells.

Great body style and personally I would rather have Pioneer power under the body then Carrera !

Feel it worked out best for this combo!

The old Aurora/K&B GTO's are nice models. They are always in demand.

          Thnks guys.
I did notice this body, and the original chassis were much nicer than my strombecker or revell cars.
          But,
To keep up with modern slot muscle cars I had to ditch the aurora chassis.

          here is a bottom shot

            That looks great.
I have the white one on the original chassis.
The body looks great but the chassis runs a bit rough.
I need to spend a bit of time working on the chassis but if I can't sort it out I may do something similar.

              if you do...
What I did was JB weld some square brass tubes on the chassis outer edges
wait overnight til 100% dry and hard

then cut it in half with a cutoff wheel in my drill press making it straight

next slip in the next size smaller square tube in the larger tubes
then stretch-shrink the chassis until the wheel base is right

painters tape on the bottom and drip more JB weld in the gap
when dry peel the tape off

Nicely done; I guess this way you were able to keep the body original...?

Nice work.. looks like a great way to adjust the wheelbase and keep the chassis strong

Pontiac and Pioneer together … good choice. I'm at a loss why I ever sold my Carrera Ponty GTO.

Cool. Now it just needs some redline tires and a little plush tiger tail hanging out of the gas tank.

You know GTO means "Go To Olds".
Would you believe "Gas Tires Oil"?

I know what it really means but it's too hard to spell and it's in some strange language from a mysterious and far away land that nobody understands anyway.

I have a few Carrera GTO's, I wish I hadn't of sold my Aurora GTO's now, or at least kept one. I sold a bunch of over the years on the internet, if I found one I sold it.
I sold a couple of real ones over the years too, I kept the best one, a red '68 convertible, they'll bury me in that car if my kids don't grab it first.

Cool, my avatar is m 70 fake GTO
It was a tempest with chevy straignt 6cyl
I put in hopped up 425 HP chevy 350, a TCI transmission, sway bars and suspension. A GTO hood, and rear deck spoiler, bucket seats and console with a hurst slapstick shifter.

I kept it looking a little ruff so I could get races easier and then blow their doors off.

My parents sold it on me when I ended up in the wheel chair from a diving accident.
