  • Slim can vs Long can, how can you tell?

How can you tell a slim can from a long can? This motor is in my latest purchase, I don’t have anything else to compare it to. What the difference between the two?

It will vary somewhat by motor but generally:

Slim can roughly 27mm length, 12mm height, 15.5mm wide
Long can: 32.3mm lenght, 15.7mm height, 20.4mm wide

EDIT: Also shaft diameter: 1.5mm on the slim can, 2mm on the long can

Thanks, that helped. I now know I have a long can. Good to know.

You can also check the torque rating; most slim cans will be under 100g-cm whereas most long cans will be over 200g-cm.

But, size and shaft diameter, as Superslab said, are your best indicators.
